If you don't believe me check the picture below. The 2nd head in the pain's image has the exact same eye size as the resized photo. That's not a coincidence.BTW I like how you used the smudge tool on this pain. Really brings out the inner pixel. Yes, you used the smudge tool, it's why the 1st head looks like he has a tumour on his chin and it explains the weird grey patch near the hair on the last head.

This picture is not pixel art. In the below picture,I resized the picture jalonso posted to 33%, changed the contrast, then merged part of that picture to pain's picture. The result, a flawless blend of course!http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v645/CovSquad/proof.gif

both pixels are 100% pixel art ... you have wip for both pics ... i have eye withness for rino on pj and for this piece i don't know anybody that could draw this from head so i didn't think that i needed to say i looked at photo ... i would like to compete with anybody on this site on any compo, prefered to be 30min or 1h with judges and wip pictures sent every 5min or so ...

I have to say, I'm seeing lots of random colours. I don't think it's 100% pixel art. After seeing all the comments on this piece, I remembered another piece of pain's work, which also had this sort of suspicion on it. This is the piece. I'd like to think both pieces are full pixels though, they do look good.

In which case a simple, “I used a reference." (plus ideally a source) would have been adequate/appropriate. I would say there are enough dissimilarity in the piece to that would mean no repercussions should take place. However there are also enough similarities to warrant speculation given you didn’t provide a reference. I personally still think the piece shows a lot of good skills and my judging won’t severely be phased by this turn of events. I suppose this could be seen as a bit of a lesson for everyone if you are using a strong reference for a piece say so.

on another note; I appreciate that jalonso brought this to attention as it is good to know people are looking out for the integrity of the gallery.

My two issues with the piece:FOR THE LOVE OF GOD CHANGE THE TEXT! It does the piece no justice at all, and this piece deserves good text.
Secondly, George Washington (I'm not American but thats who he is right?) seems to have a tumor next to his chin. Seeing as its a rock monument I'm not actually sure if thats what it looks like. But I missed the deformed little bit of his face at first.

This looks good. The antialiasing on the letters of USA doesn't live up to the immaculate sub-pixel detail on the rock surface though, which is quite odd.
