Whats wrong with the simple shading in that kit? It means people with very little skill can still use it.

You did well in adjusting the colors, but you're antialiasing is taking up too much space. The lines of vertical antialiasing pixels are as long as the vertical lines of black they're next to, which gives it a blurry and "overdone" look. You should cut the distance they go in half, approximately.

Here's an example of what I mean, the original line taken from the leg on the left.

Sorry to say this, but now all you've done is give it a blurry look! Anti aliasing isn't about making lines blurry, it's about smoothing lines out when it moves from one row or column of pixels to another.

Because pillow shading doesn't convey accurate lighting in any case whatsoever. But I don't think this piece is pillow-shaded, it's just a poorly executed antialiasing practice: you need to use a color that is about halfway between the two colors to be antialiased (black and white) for your primary aa color. You can then use colors halfway between that 50% grey color and black and white; these colors are 25% and 75% grey. Right now there are a lot of really light aa colors and they go too far on the sides of the (underworked, IMO) lines, creating a blurred effect. Hopefully with some attention to this post and any of the antialiasing tutorials in the links section you'll be able to get this piece improved quite a bit. Good luck!

To be honest, why should it matter if it is pillow shaded, seeing as the people are only to be used on their own, and not part of a greater scene.

runescape is, indeed, retard. and you're teaching pillowshading in your tutorials/kits as something 'good to do'.

That's not anti aliasing. I can hardly tell you added a light grey shade of grey. Look in the tutorials section to learn how to. ;)
