so ive been doing something that ive found to be a very painful task. Ive been evaluating all of the work that ive done on my former work machine (a nameless dell inspiron laptop). and i hate it. all of it. hah. i hate it so much in fact that im going back and re doing these sprites at least some justice as to how i they should have looked in the first place. i also have to blame it on me being a poor artist as of late. but thats neither here nor there.

this is a comparison shot of a work i submitted previously, called 'ryu drunk'. thought it was a funny concept at the time. Notice the color balance is the SUCK in the previous, and is in far better shape now. Not all the details are finished 100%, the hand, top of head and the leg on the left need the most work from here out. Ive got so much other work to redo its ridiculous.

was just tooling with this some more. Still working on the color balance and some subtle details. working on finishing a really large piece that i never finished. its umm. *gulp* an isometric piece, dread and woe, but im trying my best to make it cool.

a dell !!! ugh! I can't stand dells, I only like IBM computers. Well at least I'm not the only one with autistic habits to redo things that disgust me.

thanks for the comments so far everyone. I agree with most of the concerns posted. the arm looks kindof chopped near the forearm mainly because i hadnt wanted to put an outline around that flat area, so arguably ill have to make some o the connecting muscles in the forearms a bit more bulbous to compensate perhaps? The clothing i know wasnt quite there yet and still isnt, but its slowly improving :P. Thanks adarias for the warning there, i think i feel i know what you mean. will be making more adjustments in that department.

For those tha tlike the old version better, i appreciate what you mean when you say that, the areas that have a lot of contrast currently did not have such in the older version, giving it alomst a cleaner feel, but the colors are just way off and it looks pretty sloppy in the anatomy department (and completely crap in the arm musculature). im still not there yet, but im taking my sweet ol time. its a good warm up exercise into this kindof pixelling. its funny what kindof work you get used to doing 'on the job' versus all the fun stuff one would otherwise get to do at home.

Wow. The improved version looks really 3D.  Your old work is not hideous, it's awesome.  I mean Bahamut perched is the top pixel on the site.

Don't hate your old art. Love it, as you love a decrepit old relative...

I agree with Adarias, but other than that, this is a nice improvement.  Carry on.

A good improvement, but careful about making the clothing too solid/sculpted....these things are airy :P

I think he's refering to his screen.

And welcome back dude. I always wanted to know where you were at. Love your stuff :D

The one on the right looks much better, although I have no idea what the quality of pixelling has to do with your machine...

very nice anatomy and colours

Welcome back, Stove-top Oven! *all town villagers rejoice in celebration*

Understandably, this is a wip, so I won't crit on much. It looks great so far, though his left arm looks as it has been cropped strangely( though it may have been intentional, as the previous piece has the same feature...) Good luck with updating your previous pieces man(and a BIG good luck with somehow making the trademark St0ven "dragon" pieces even better than they were.)

Lots of nice improvements but I like his left leg more on the old piece. The darkest shade coming along the whole leg probably a right thing but it's so contrast... I dunno. I dislike it this way.

the right one is more realistic but the left one is more "street fighter-ish" . i prefere the left one

That is very impressive.
I recall amazement at the first time seeing this, (even +fav on dA, I think) but your update here is fantastic, some much more realistic. I think that depends on what you what, realism or style; although the original is rather detailed, I found it fitted more the Capcom style of sprites, but, I can't complain when the one on the left looks so good. :p
