I didn't said anywhere that I don't use these at all. But because my pixel adventure lasts about 10 years i tried this and that. I made pictures with auto AA, manual AA, no AA. And used various technics, like you can see. I tried to search my own style. Finding own style is the best adventure....
one is shure... you use built in Antialias in Brilliance or Dpaint... and blend smear shade transperency modes in conbination ... and hey kid... i was using those progies ... and i know for the tricks " techniks "
You'll understand any skepticism, and why we require WIPs for questionable pieces. Scene stuff is usually sketchy 'round these parts. So, yeah, a WIP would easily dispel a good bit of the questions regarding its authenticity.
And you think I drawn it it 24b? And used layers and so on? Or used some advanced photoshop-like brush? That's absolutelly untrue. I didn't also used any kind of postprocessing effects or whatever. It was made from scratch in 8bits in Brillinace on my old Amiga.
It took me some time to find definition on net :)
"Pixel art is generally thought of as a computer graphic where the image is literally drawn pixel-by-pixel in tiny detail, usually using a limited color palette and primitive computer graphics tools."
It is not considered as pixel art if you are working with layer blending effects or with advanced brushes in full color and then just save it for web as a 32 colors gif.

The red flower is definetely not pixeled, it looks as if a few random "blocky" pixels were thrown in here and there to give it a pixel look.
Who knows though... Maybe he's just a pixelgod.
