This is a mockup I have been working on. I tried reusing colors as much as I could, which is a first for me basicly. I believe I managed to keep the colorcount pretty low. I also tried to make some kind of alien world and try to stay away from the usual green foliage.

Thanks for all your comments. It's fun to see that I atleast managed to do an interesting piece. I definetely agree that it is kind of hard to read and distinguish stuff now that I have gotten some distance to the piece. As for the colorpicking I'm still pretty new to that. I haven't really read much on saturation and how to pick an appropriate palette. Based on the comments I would say that should be my next step in improving :).
Ow, too much saturation in the purples and reds. Using the same colours for the background clouds and foreground leaves (?) makes it hard to distinguish between the two layers.
the colors aren't right. It's too colorful, its like candy land was taken over by aliens. but i like the idea, and the characters are good.just the purple is blech!
I'm pretty sure he's on a quest to collect crystals and must kill monsters and perform tasks using Mana and has a limit for his stretchy arms. Though more detail is really necessary. The Mana looks like "HANA" and arms look like "ARHS" and power looks like "POHER"
The problem I see from standardizing the palette across each layer is that each of the elements start to run together. It then begins to be difficult to differentiate between interactive elements and background.
aka the readability issues that Larwick mentioned.
restricting your palette on such a complicated looking mockup was probs not the best idea. everything's quite hard to read D: which is a shame, cus it looks pretty cool.
