Hmm. I guess you used no filtering during the rotation. I tried some rotations (with filtering) and the results look quite good and just as clean as with the original one.
>So... you wouldn't be interested in making a game?
Haha! I've never finished anything before so for the good of you: no.
A good start. I made a quick and sloppy edit with some minor changes, it might help. Or not.

I guess the first half is a platform, a cone or hemisphere on which the actual gun (on the right) rotates.
What I changed: Reduced colorcount (108 is really a lot for a nearly grayscale piece). First I used automatic color reduction (that's to avoid, I just did it because i didn't wanted to redraw everything) and then merged some colors manually. I think its a good idea to start with a fixed palette from the start. I haven't really changed the gun, just some AA here and there, and some reduction of the blurry banding at the edges. Cleaned the outlines of the platform, the circle was really jaggy. Added some AA there too. I guess the dark ont he bottom of the circle is shadow not an attempt on AA. It's not really consistet with the shading so I changed that too. Did some minor things to the surface too because I found it a bit boring.
Well that's it for now, though I think there are still some things you could improve. Maybe a bit more funky colors, some metal pattern on the plates, a bit more definition on the gun and so on. But actually it's quite good as it is now.
Oh, sorry. I just noticed it's a bit old (was just surfing through your gallery and thought it's new because I didn't remembered this from before).
What do you use to make games? I use Construct and GameMaker 7.0
The turrets are nice. Not much to improve on. I love the 3D feel of them.
Ah! Forget what I said about filtering. I don't really know what the problem is so I was just guessing. Right now I think (again it's a guess) the problem is caused by the larger resolution. The original blocky doublepixels become rotated and break the style.
I made a quick test on the different sequences of rotating and doubling pixels and came up with this plate, that clearly proves how much I don't understand anything about the matter:
