IRC Challenge: So here was the challenge: 30 minutes, 4 colors ( red, yellow, black, blue of extreme hue shift ), abstract, listening to tool the whole time.

Heres what my intention for the piece was: It was intended to be very abstract, not a lot of detail, open to interpretation. Try and stare at the picture for a while, tell me what you see. I saw one thing while I was creating this image but then had my girlfriend look at it and rather than telling her what I saw I asked for her opinion first. She described the vision in a completely different way, seeing completely different things than I had intended for, I was amazed and realized that I had perhaps actually made a successful attempt at abstraction.

Happy journeys with this, bon voyage avec cette!

Ptoing, thanks for the info on abstract. I've never done anything abstract before so I will take your information into account on the next abstract piece I do. Bluurg, you can learn something from anyone, just have to know how to listen without giving meanings :)

Explaining something in detail denotes pomposity? *Takes notes*

Great, ok. So it's not abstract. It's still a great pic. A little less pomposity would go a long ways.

This is not abstract at all tho. It's abstracted if anything. Abstract means that there is NOTHING that relates to anyhing that actually exists.

As soon as you see stuff that actually seems to be in the picture (like the hills, sun, city, some figure in the foreground) it's not abstract. Abstract also does not generally mean that different people can see different stuff in it.

Or do you see ANYTHING in this?

That's abstract.

This, http://www.nzine.co.nz/images/articles/picasso_lg.jpg  is NOT, it's abstracted.

Many people make this mistake actually. This concludes my artlesson.

Reminds me of Wasteland. Nice pic.

kid, that's your interpretation.
but believe, dogmeat, when i say this piece is way too risky. for the future generations.  this is 75% pixel Art, and 25% description.

It's not abstract — it's just not detailed. I can easily recognize the city, the man, the mountains and so on.

Also there should be no black points in the sun, as i can see it.
