deeply inspired in the Final Fantasy Airships, with a litte Steam Punk touch. The background was a total pain to animate(it took me more than 6 hours to manually resize, animate and place each frame... D: ), and also had to add a background since i didn't notice the "no trans" rule. but it  the final product still looks ok.
I had mixed feelings about this one. still open to suggestions beyond the deadline. this deserves to be taken to the max.

that's why I ended third. they didn't scare me anyway, machines, humans, they all are suceptible to be defated by the power of my pixeling

surt (Level 10 Maniac) at 10/16/2007 2:53:54 AM
It's not really feasible for a mere humans to compete with superhuman pixel machines like Fool and B.O.B.
Good work.

Metaru (Level 8 Brigadier General) at 10/15/2007 10:12:05 AM
if this isn't hard work, then what! it may be a 3rd place, but its a 1st to me.
thanks ooshmaster and lollige! and PJ in general as well!

ooshmaster (Level 5 Soldier) at 10/15/2007 9:38:59 AM
Congrats, dude!

Lollige (Level 9 Necrophiliac) at 10/15/2007 6:14:54 AM
YOU MADE IT TO THE 3TH PLACE!!

Metaru (Level 8 Brigadier General) at 10/11/2007 10:47:30 AM
@lollige: i'll have to...

Lollige (Level 9 Necrophiliac) at 10/11/2007 9:46:59 AM
did you notice that however alot of people are complaining about the background, its still on the first page of weekly top?? Thats AWESOME!
now if you update the BG it can get even higer!

dich (Level 4 Murderer) at 10/11/2007 5:10:10 AM
Very interesting effect on background, so simply and so spectacular.

Jiwestone (Level 2 Flatfoot) at 10/11/2007 2:36:54 AM
Your best one so far. The ship is great with some neat details, but I think you could improve on the shafts leading up to the rear propellers. Love the sparks and smoke. Looking forward to see the updated background.

Maarten (Level 1 Rookie) at 10/9/2007 1:15:01 AM
Incredible! I actually had already seen this before you commented on my topic. Well this was exactly the beautifull pixel art i was talking about!

Metaru (Level 8 Brigadier General) at 10/8/2007 3:31:11 PM
well, as I already said below, i'll redo the background as soon as posible.

Doomcreator0 (Level 7 Sheriff) at 10/8/2007 2:17:23 PM
That's basically what I meant, but basically, you could try making them on one level, instead of shifting them.

Metaru (Level 8 Brigadier General) at 10/8/2007 1:53:26 PM

or you could see the each side of the clouds and notice the divisions...

Doomcreator0 (Level 7 Sheriff) at 10/8/2007 12:46:52 PM

It's a great ship, the color choices is also great.

Though I have some comments on your animations. At 3 certain areas, you can kind of see the shifting of the frames for the clouds. The first place is near the front of the boat, the second near the 3 to left propeller, and the last a bit away from the torch. But anyway, it looks sort of like a wave effect or something. I'm not sure how to phrase it.

Metaru (Level 8 Brigadier General) at 10/8/2007 12:39:43 PM
A.B.:you don't know how much that fucking thing annoys me. when i posted it on the forum no one said a damn thing agaisnt it exept jalonso. So, no ofense, but if you are not going to give a proper idea, a sugestion, or even a more elaborted critique about it, please, think it twice, at least in this one. god, I already said below i'm going to work on it.

A.B. (Level 8 Cannibal) at 10/8/2007 10:42:50 AM

Bad choise of background, Metaru.

But the ship looks detailed, and thats a plus.

Metaru (Level 8 Brigadier General) at 10/8/2007 10:20:59 AM
@MoD: believe me, you got the point of the "mode 7" emulation. its the problem of our kids nowdays, they never meet the basics of our civilization and straigthly started with those HD-3D-OMG models.

Metaru (Level 8 Brigadier General) at 10/8/2007 10:18:46 AM
@B.O.B: perhaps, what i need to do, and the problem here, is the fact that I've used a 2Xpixels background. i'll try to redo the whole background (wich just sacres me just metioning it). About the frame, believe me when I just put a 2 mins pattern on it, since it was there only to replace the "no transparency" background, and didn't want people get distracted by it.

ooshmaster (Level 5 Soldier) at 10/7/2007 5:28:54 PM
Probably your best piece. Great work. Just not diggin' the seams in the background.

The B.O.B. (Level 11 Master Assassin) at 10/7/2007 4:49:17 PM
I love the ship design, but agree with the background issue. I think that you can keep the "mode 7" technicallity of it, just possibly look into redoing the clouds a bit. They don't seem to fit the style of the ship, imo (possibly try looking into chinese and japanese type swirly clouds for experimenting perhaps?). Also might try darkening the frame/outline a bit, as it's hard to read it's tiny designs. Might even try having the bands on both the top and bottom portions of the scene, bend inwards(concave) towards the ship, giving the sky a warped feel. This has a lot of potential, in other words. Lookin' great so far.
*man, I really didn't expect this challenge to put out such awesome pieces!

Monkey 'o Doom (Level 11 Psychopath) at 10/7/2007 3:28:08 PM
@Lollige and Josiah: I think it's a nod to the old days of Mode 7 on the SNES, as was demostrated in FF6; wiki it if you're not familiar with the method of  3D imitation. Basically, though, each line of pixels was drawn to a slightly different scale, and where the scale changes by a whole number you have the characteristic "seams."

Opacus (Level 6 Yonkyu) at 10/7/2007 2:37:25 PM
When I saw it I knew it was the Prima Vista, awesome.

A.B. Lazer (Level 2 Flatfoot) at 10/7/2007 1:39:26 PM
I think background makes it look like it is some stage play with tricky machinery. As whole looks weird and cool, spinning fans also look very smooth.

Lollige (Level 9 Necrophiliac) at 10/7/2007 1:33:36 PM
I dont like the background aswell.. it does not match style, and frame is weird too..

Josiah (Level 8 Marshal) at 10/7/2007 1:14:43 PM

The flying ship is great, but why does the background have muliple seams in the scrolling animation?

Metaru (Level 8 Brigadier General) at 10/7/2007 12:37:28 PM
arjjj... can't be

Reo (Level 9 Executioner) at 10/7/2007 12:32:43 PM

Awesome,but the background kills it
