One for people like me who grew up with an 8 bit home computer...
Shortly after I did the R-Type Mode 0 Amstrad CPC a couple years ago mock up I pixelled up a couple of rough sprite ideas of how a shoot 'em up designed specifically for the Amstrad CPC might look. A couple of days ago I reworked them and pixelled a complete mock up for them. Again chose to use the 16 color wide-pixel Mode 0 (as opposed to the 4 color regular sized pixels Mode 1) as it's best suited for the horizontal shooter format on the CPC, in my opinion.
(Note: Mode 1 and Mode 0 refers to two of the CPC's different resolutions in case yer wondering)

Ah hey, nice to see you here too. Need more CPC guys. :) Sorry for late reply. I don't often come here much these days but I've done so today cos I've just uploaded a piece. And it's Amstrad CPC related.
Yeah I might have put too many sprites on it, though I was using the CPC version of U.N. Squadron as a guide and even though that ran a bit slow it was the large amount of sprites, the simultaneous 2 player mode (which for some reason was missing from the SNES version) and just being able to blow up a ton of crap made it very playable anyways. Am hoping that if some CPC coders I know want to try programming this for real, they'll have picked up plenty of tricks to really push the machine. Would love this to run off even my standard CPC 464 from a cassette tape if possible with music playing if you got the extra 64k like a CPC 6128 machine.
EDIT: Just been playing U.N. Squadron the WinApe emulator and discovered the programs 'Turbo' mode which rather than just skip frames or something to speed up the game, it actually seems to remove all slowdown (noticed the music is still being played at correct speed). Is like playing a CPC with a faster processor or something. Neat feature.
