I've been working quite alot lately to get most of the graphics finished for my Zombie platformer. These are some mockups with the interface and some of the scenes from the "game".  I'm still looking for someone to program it though!

Let me know what you think!

Hey man! Im so excited looking at these graphics! Theyre awesome, and now the really good news!! I am writing a game EXACTLY like this already! Im a games designer / developer and its going well, but I dont have any artwork! Im sure we can team up here???? To view my game go here www.lapseadazical.com/tdw - sorry I think the demo might be down right now I usually upload one every few days, but there are screenshots and explanations on there. We could both be happy here :-)

It will be made  I've got a programmer working on it!

surt (Level 10 Maniac) at 12/18/2007 3:35:59 PM
This game must be made.

DevonR (Level 1 Intern) at 11/10/2007 9:19:08 PM
I would be careful though... simply handing over your graphics to an anonymous programmer could result in theft. Good perspective, the background objects look perfect.

AWESOME STUFF!

kingaschi (Level 1 Rookie) at 11/6/2007 2:59:21 PM
There are lots of programmers out there that are looking for artists! Also, I don't mind creating you some demo if you like? If it's singleplayer (?) it should be pretty straightforward to implement.

Also, there is some talk about a game programming competition at my game programming forums. The problem with us programmers is the lack of graphics. If you'd like to lend them your graphics (I am pretty sure there is a way to keep the graphics copyrighted to you) you could probably get 30-50 people working on it! You could work out a deal with the guy that you like the most to continue development after the competition?

Let me know if any of that is in your interests? If yes, let me try hook a brother up

Ahh, survivalists and the zombies that love them. Nice work!

(Big fan of Resident Evil 2, right?)

macula (Level 6 Hitman) at 10/30/2007 2:47:43 PM
Great job, very cool.

This looks so awesome! I'd love to put a game like this together on the Amiga, it looks like it'd be heaps of fun.

mdkcde (Level 1 Rookie) at 10/24/2007 7:08:46 AM
Man, thats some awesome stuff.
I would love to make a game with it, I can't promise anything, but I will give it a try if you are willing to provide some resources.
I suppose you have sprites for all the stuff right?

Wow, looks amazing. I'd play that asap! Would love to see something like this on the DS. Very great, keep up the good work!

chanfan (Level 1 Thug) at 10/22/2007 12:57:47 AM

Haha crab2selout.png thanx!

Yeah I'll have a look at it, thanx for the tip!

This will be sort of an adventure platformer with alot of zombies in it, so you can either shoot them if you have a weapon, or you can Beat em up ;P with your fists! It will also have parts with less zombies but with some problemsolving and puzzles instead!

crab2selout.png (Level 2 Flatfoot) at 10/21/2007 11:05:34 PM
I compell this to rise into the #1 spot for the week(then top 10 for all time)

:P

You might want to take a look at Metal slug. It has some really crazy sloping terrain combined with an expansive background(like yours) that never really confuses the player or make them wonder where they're jumping to. This is not a problem in your mockup, but I thought you might find it interesting or inspiring/

What kind of platformer will this be? From the screenshots it looked more like a beat 'em up.

Akaimakai (Level 4 Deputy) at 10/21/2007 12:48:04 PM
Awesome, i really like your style, and i love your zombies, so please continue, i want to play this game !!!
The backgrounds are also great.

konix (Level 2 Flatfoot) at 10/19/2007 12:42:54 PM
The colors could use a little more contrast and the hud is a little busy. Otherwise it's nice.

Miumau0 (Level 5 Soldier) at 10/19/2007 7:37:23 AM
Very well detailed BG! This is one of the best moc-ups I have ever seen. GJ. 5/5

Adam (Level 8 Brigadier General) at 10/19/2007 2:40:03 AM

WOW! That's something really great! I love those backgrounds. Sprites are cool too, though there are some minor parts I'm not really sure about (the light blue on the right leg of the hero for example). HUD is classy, I think it fits the design, except the portraits, they do not match with the sprites.

Awesome anyway!

chanfan (Level 1 Thug) at 10/19/2007 2:12:03 AM

Hey thanx for the comments everyone!

DarkfalzX I know about GameMaker but I never got the chance to learn it. I tried once with one of the earlier versions but I never understood how to program it to do what I wanted!  And as for the hud, I wanted it to be a bit bulky and big to get that claustrophobic feel when you play.

EnsilZah If you have the time and if you want to program a demo or something that would be awesome! Just holla at me!

crab2selout.png  Hmm the screen res is actually 240x174 but I don't know where I got those figures from, Probably a mockup I found here

Oce again thanx!

crab2selout.png (Level 2 Flatfoot) at 10/19/2007 12:05:40 AM
Good body language in that last screen of the hero getting bitten. Will the screen res really be 242x244. If so, where did you come up with taht number?

Great detailing, too. Really makes the environment feel alive

EnsilZah (Level 1 Rookie) at 10/18/2007 11:23:09 PM
Hmm, maybe I could help with the programming (C++ and DirectX).
Not sure how much time I will have this semester though.

Nice buildings!

Blueberry_pie (Level 7 General Manager) at 10/18/2007 10:39:17 PM
Hah, I love how you managed to squeeze in some cleavage in that small sprite of Carrie. Classic chanfan piece ;)

Awesome mockups.

Marina (Level 4 Deputy) at 10/18/2007 9:55:56 PM
This is really good... awesome!!
Seems like Resident Evil 2 but... pixel version lol
Great work

greenraven (Level 5 Killer Klown) at 10/18/2007 9:14:06 PM
Nice.

It reminds me of a game I just can't seem to remember which one.

DarkfalzX (Level 4 Mercenary) at 10/18/2007 7:44:37 PM
This owns!
Grab GameMaker! It's so unbelievably easy to use, you can get your game up and running in a week! (given you have a lot of free time: ) You can get the free version, but it's somewhat crippled, as you can't use the more advanced features, like sprite scaling and rotation, as well as advanced alpha and particle effects, but with some ingenuity, those can be achieved as well. The full ver is only US $20, and it grants you all the distribution rights and all.

As per the mockups - I love 'em! ..except, perhaps for the hud. If I was doing it, I'd go with something a bit slicker, like Bitmap Brother Soldier of Fortune-ish.

Metaru (Level 8 Brigadier General) at 10/18/2007 6:18:59 PM
YES!
