Hello, I'm new here, and this is one of the first things I've done. It's a small picture that I plan to use as an avatar. I think it looks too messy, but I wanted the opinion of others. The picture is of an asteroid (the brown rock) crashing in the middle of the ocean and uncovering Atlantis (the patch of glowing green). The patterns behind the asteroid are its tail and debris being left behind. On the lower right corner I put a piece of land. Also, if you look closely, you'll see a very small rendering of Van Gogh's Starry Night in the background. Please keep in mind that I'm new to this, so C&C is greatly appreciated.

Thanks  I'll definitely try to reduce the color amount as soon as I can.

Great effort. Just too many colors used. Welcome.

Thanks for commenting guys, I really appreciate it. I'll make sure to check the WIP forum, M.E., thanks for pointing there. I'm going to try to work on reducing the color count, since I realized that there are many useless shades that I don't need. Also, I really don't know how to make a better wave, so I would really like advice on that. I'll definitely try your idea M.E. And as for the Starry Night background, I didn't actually want it to be too noticeable, since then the picture would look much more crowded than it is now. Thanks greenraven for the encouragement, I'm definitely going to keep trying to improve my skills.

It's little hard to make out what's going on, but it's a good first effort.

Welcome Acherhar. Please check out the WIP forum in the community section
of PixelJoint. It is a great place to get C&C.
As for now the color count is a bit high for such a small piece.
The swirl in the background is hartly noticeable. The whole ocean seems
to be made of bubbles. A big upward splash with the rest relatively
calm could make it more oceany?!?
I like the trail. Good job to fit that in such small area.
