Looks very nice. My only issue is with the top-left of the hat, as the shading there doesn't fit with the rest of it.

I don't like the line you have under him (ground). Go with a shadow if your must have something like that.

Other than that, for me... its pretty spiffy!!!

greenraven: I think he accidentally hit the weekly challenge checkbox.

Pretty nice for a mario sprite. Outline looks partially lit but not consistently. Top line of the hat in particular seems to disregard the lighting, and could do to be lightened up like the bit to the left.
