Okay I recreated it since I had time. I placed black pixels around the edges since it looked horrible without it when transparent. I used 14 colours (15 including transparency) and a different palette. And I did NOT use dirty tools, just MS Paint.

EDIT: I have added some animation. This is the final edit.

haha very funny. okay fine, sorry I called your art too small!

I am surprised you actually took the time to respond though.

I just like shiny things... even the word "shiny"sounds shiny. Onomatopoeia I guess...

A closer look certainly tells me that this is done by hand so previous comments are just confusing. I'd personally wouldn't think the backlighted part on the underside would be so large and far into the sphere but it's your choice. Large amount of colors makes the sprite very smooth and the design is simple but cute. Now lets see what you'll do in future ^^

This looks awsome 5/5 and it does'nt look like you used dirty tools like the other, this is pixlel art for sure.

I think it looks great!

wow... dogmeat and Adarias, you guys are good for observing pixel pieces! No I did not use any "dirty tools" (like what dogmeat and Adarias have been saying), I used a palette that had MANY colours, and no smudging was invovled since there was a specified amount of colours, I COULD break down the palette if I wanted too, but this would be pointless (it IS a big palette). Yes I have been making more pieces that use a lesser palette (I need to practice dithering) and it is VERY essential to use less colours when animating pixel art (I found this out the hard way a long time ago). thanks guys for the tips, I will try to work harder in the coming weeks if I have time. And I will put this info to good use.

the shapes to me suggest a lack of care for color count, but not dirty tools.  the placement is far too simple to think a machine would have done it.  I used to make pieces with tons of colors too, there's really no need for everyone to pop on this one.

This is not pixel art, you probably used dirty tools...

but this REALLY uses more colours than needed. an un-optimal revision reveals this image uses 20+ colors, while a quick edit proves that it only needs 8 colors+trans,

If you're making sprites for a game sometimes using a limited palette can be helpful to speed the sprite-making process along. I do agree with B_p that you've used more colours than necessary, but if you're happy then it's fine.

You should AA the edges of the sphere and perhaps do something to make his eyes stand out more?

Well I kinda like it.

of COURSE it's pixel art! what did I use? 3DS Max to colour it? I always like to use many colours since I'm mainly a game spriter. If I make a game and it has degraded textures running in 32-bit... well that's just pointless. Perhaps if I was making a game using 256 colours, THEN I would use limited colouring. So it's really just a habit I have... although sometimes I get lazy and use a limited palette.

The colouring doesn't look like pixel art to me... But if it is, you used way more colours than necessary.
