greenraven.. its becouse the lighter colors cant be in the middle like in this piece.. middle part is deepest and there is the darkest.. and the edge, closest to the beach/ground is the lightest coz its not deep..

I like the way you did the water. But something about the lighter parts in the middle seem odd to me somehow, I dunno.

Still great job on it.
