Don't give up on the challenge so easily. You've got a lot of colours in there you can easily consolidate. Here's a quick 10 colour edit for example.

Bit too much dither for my taste. Some readability issues propably due
to my monitor settings.

You could have easily condensed this to the 9 + transparency colors needed for the weekly challenge.
