Dunno how much of a self portrait it is when it's mutated so much it don't look all that much like me.  It's still got my weird smile at least.  Might tweak a few bits and perhaps do a better background but I don't have all that much free time left.

Inspired by Disney's Gargoyles

Grats on the win.

I love the second stage of WIP. It just looks cool to see that from the first.

Hey, thank you.  :)

Congrats on the win. Well deserved.

amazing as usual :-)

Wolverine (Level 8 Brigadier General) at 11/19/2007 2:32:47 AM
cos the forehead was looking too bare and wasteful, and I preferred it coming from right above the brow ridges.  Frames the face better with the sideburns in my opinion.

David Stoner (Level 1 Rookie) at 11/18/2007 5:37:36 PM
I'm curious as to why you moved the hairline down so drastically far. Unless I'm just seeing it wrong.

Wolverine (Level 8 Brigadier General) at 11/18/2007 2:23:03 PM
Yeah I think it's quite like that nice old Amiga metal/rock shiny dither technique that people like the Bitmap Bros used in their games.  The good ol' days...

Thanks for the compliment.

Oh, this is great and the winner, if you ask me. Reminded me of Helm but colors are completely yours. Great piece!

Awsome work :)
I love the way you did the gargoyle skin, it's really good.

GMC is good for boredom though

Wolverine (Level 8 Brigadier General) at 11/17/2007 1:40:55 AM
Sorry my color and contrast work hurts your eyes.  I actually find low contrast stuff very hard on my eyes too.  Personally I've never been as happy with my output as I am now and I feel like I'm finally on the way to doing the kind of stuff I'd hoped to have been doing for years.  Still gonna take a while though.
And yeah the GMC is a terrible place to be if you're a pixel artist wanting to make games.  Just seems all they care about is crap 3D, boring online games, and games with ripped commercial graphics... oh and tedious Jumper clones, with just a cube for a player sprite...

HoofFoot (Level 7 Assassin) at 11/16/2007 6:57:29 PM
Simply put, amazing.

I love the attention to detail, but the way you've been using these high contrast and unsaturated colours in your recent stuff has been a killer on my eyes. It's a shame, cause you have great form, but it gets a bit muddled as a result. Only a minor beef.

I hope your Game Maker related work has been going well. I don't see you post at the GMC much anymore(don't blame you).

love it, great colours as usual : )

Really nice, impressive dithering!

Very good.

Doomcreator0 (Level 5 Detective) at 11/15/2007 1:15:34 PM
I really like the colors, that shine on his face, everything. Faved.

I second fechqueen on the second image. The eyebrow look you had there
was wicked!
Integrating the BG colors into the face is awesome!
5 out of 5

I think I prefer the more 'aquaphibian' look of the second image in your WIP, but still a great image.
