Quick entry for the challenge. Not sure about medieval legends being fantasy. Well poor fantasy at least.

Used one of Arne's palette, after finishing it, I think I should have used an other one.

No spectacular similarity with the real thing ( but my sexyness is hard to copy with mere pixels. Especially in tights.

wip here:

Preview is extremely rushed it's 1:41 here.

Edit: Updated with a cheap solution to meet challenge restrictions: 2 pixel wide borders. Also added minor changes.

Heres a quick +1color edit if you think the facial dithering sucks:

And finally a reference I forgot previously:

with such heavy dither the face is almost unreadable

erm... this is supposted to be an avatar so usually the detailed pic is the same as small pic... btw, it looks great

I think the colouring style is great!
Comparing it to your pic, I can tell that it's you!

Heh, when I thought I'd finished mine I found out it was 64x60.  Had to enlarge the canvas and pixel in continuing areas.  Annoying to have had to done that when I thought I was done and could move on.

Anyways I really like this.  Perhaps could use better definition in places but overall it's colorful and appealing.  Plus I like most things Robin Hood.

@ Lollige: No color limit for the challenge, but I tried to stick to the given "Arne" palette. Did a quick edit though with an additional color - linked to the description.

@ A.B. Lazer: Well, my eyes look like this. They are set a bit deep, they tend to hide in shadows so nobody can catch me sleeping during my seminars. Lightened the shadow cast by the nose a bit. A little bit.

A.B. Lazer (Level 2 Flatfoot) @ 11/16/2007 07:23
Good. But eyes are too dark. At 1x you can't see them at all. And shadow falling from the nose on lips is too brutal.

Hapiel (Level 11 Admiral) @ 11/16/2007 06:30
there is no color limit! If you really need it, add it.. it looks very 'scribbly' now :(.. But it does look like you :)

Adam (Level 9 Major General) @ 11/16/2007 04:12

Hahh! Nobody noticed that it's just 60x60. I'll adjust the canvas when I get home.

@ M.E. and  dogmeat: Yes, face could benefit from smoothing, though I dont know how. I really miss an intermediate skin tone (dithering is not one of my best skills). I'll maybe come back to the piece but I have a lot of work these days.

Nice preview. I second dogmeat on the smoothing out.
Good job in choosing 15 colors, looks like more!
