I feel I have the artistic drive for my pixels but I can't achieve this... 'depth' Equilibrix talks about, though I guess this just comes with practice. Should I just set up a WIP thread for this over at the forum?
I think it needs some anti-aliasing. You should search for a tutorial about it, or ask someone.
a) it is a vast improvement in pixelling technique from sputnik who is new to the medium. This shows progress in the understanding of pixelart. Yes, it can be refined, yes it could be better colored. But, it is a major move in his improvement and thus a total win.
b) Pixelling simplicity is a valid form of pixelart and while some members chose a very elaborate and complex coloring style many others chose to have pixelly pixels and both are equally valid.
c) The simple fact that sputnik restrained from dithering here which would have been the 'n00b' way out he chose to flat shade and the small area of stylized shading on the lids shows style and personality.
d) cuz I liked it
