Hello. I suddenly became interested in pixel art just last week. I have never drawn anything outside compulsory classes in school, some 15 years ago. This is my first real attempt and it is meant to be my avatar here in Pixel joint. As you can see from the wip, the squid was supposed to be a backpack but because I suck, I couldn't get it look like one. I'm happier with the squid though, backpacks are boring! Edit: Final version submitted, wip updated. Hopefully it makes a bit more sense now.

I could see what it was after like 10 seconds. Its supposed to be a back-view of a girl with an octopus stuck to her shoulder at night.

Nice dithering.

Oh, this was approved. I'm editing the picture based on surt's great advice and it will be better. Stay tuned for a new version later!

I can't quite see what that's supposed to be, sorry.

To me it looks like a giant snake wrapped around a mop. But you obviously put time into this, so an A for effort.

Nicely rendered, but hard to read. Giving each region a more distinct intensity, or adding colour could help in this regard.
If you hadn't mentioned the squid, I wouldn't have picked it. More than one tentacle might help. Maybe a couple of them enveloping the neck (I love those strangled by cephalopod dreams).
The neck seems very long and could probably do to be shortened.
