Well, I got bored so I quickly did this picture by inspirated ( don't know if thats the right word ) J. R. R. Tolkien ~ Fellowship of the ring Maybe We will see animated version about this in future.. If I have time to do it.

Details, AA, remove pattern on leaves.... this is what's lacking here. But I still like it.

Going nicely, you've got the basics down, and now detail and revision is all that's needed.

You could try posting this on forums for futher critique.

Some things you could fix/add

Maybe some more detail on the tree bark and leaves? The rocks look odd, they look 2d rather than 3d. You could try some hue shifting in this piece. And for the atmosphere, I think that some duller colors would do this piece good.

That light that shines in is odd. The ray should be on the platform of land only and the trees, but here, you show it even reflecting off those rocks, which doesn't make sense. So try to fix that

Nice scene.
If it's meant to be in gloom, then it could probably do to be darkened some.
Given the viewing angle, the plane of the water would not reflect much sky and so should be considerably darker. Only the ripples should have much sky brightness to them.

its a good pixel. it has lots of potential. it needs more work to reach perfection.
i hate to see a good idea go to waste, thats why im voting against it.
add more details and finnish it before i finnish digesting my turkey, or else.
