If it's a long sword and not some exotic type, the blade would need to point a more "northeast" direction diagonal to match up with the angle of the hand/hilt. In the first step, it would have been useful to just use the line tool and make a straight line from hilt to tip over the hand to make sure it was straight. Otherwise, you would have to change the hand/arm position if you want to keep the blade position. I like your palette choices
