Looking at this again, I think it would really benefit from a 8 or 16 pixels border. Still super ossum. Go finish your MCOL pic!!
Was cleaning my little office room today and was looking at my walls.
They're rather bear and need more artwork on them. I paused to look at one particular peice that I do have up, though.
So I thought I'd continue to spam your gallery and post this confessional image:
Had this poster for a couple of years now. It never gets old. Like I said below, seeing it triggered something in me to realize pixel art is something I love. A discovery that has led to countless hours of frustrating pixel pushing creation!
Thanks for sharing your work, Ilija.
It's just how I happen to feel about it. I can't figure out whether the C64 pal is great or horrible either hehe.
@Mathias: Thanks for the elaborate praise :)
The palette itself is to blame for the final result. I just can't tell if it's because the C64 colors are so 'good' or so 'bad'.
Frankly, there's a million things I'd change on that face now :\
This one has astounded me from the time I first laid weary eyes on it. As I work with the C64 palette I always find myself coming back to this. Really, this would be amazing with any 16 color palette, though if using a different pal it would lose much of it's familiar charm for me. I strive to wield the C64 pal as well. This'n is one of the initial peices that collectively jerked me hard enough to push into attempting pixels.
Your judiciously loose pal usage and abstract non-sensical texturing leave my countenance betwixed for all time.
*EDIT I also wanted to say that IMO you haven't repeated this type of palette work since. Magentleman comes the closest, but is pragmatic in it's pixel placement in comparison.
@jok: You are not wrong. I just said it uses the c64 palette.
tell me if i'm wrong, but I see no posibility to display this natively on c64..?!
faved anyway :)
Arghh!Your stuf is soo impressive!
Your definately my favorite artist on this site.
yey, cyclonish 45 degree hairs.. reminds me on the good old times, thus: auto-fave!
