I understand how allot of the lines look sharp, but with some AAing and shading I know it will look better.
I'm not very offended it's just almost all of the comments I seem to have nothing positive in them, doesn't make you feel very good ya know?

People like to pick things apart (not you, just allot of people).
Not just in my gallery either, I tend to see it allot in other folks galleries, it's sad.

My avatars on most forums are female and I'm hardly what most people call masculine, so I wouldn't worry about the he-she thing.  I'm happy with either.

I'm sorry you took such offense, I'm just used to speaking my mind.

It would perhaps have been better if i had begun by saying that the drawing itself is well-realized and that it is really just the line-quality that could use cleaning.  It's also not the thickness of the lines which is of course a style point as you said.  the only thing is that they could be a little more fluid and in a few places hand-smoothed to get rid of some single-pixel jaggs.

This may not be a WIP, but every critique of a finished piece can also be applied to your next works. Many people never show WIPs, and if finished works were not commented on, I'm not sure how they would ever receive feedback :P.

*sigh* but the thing is, the line thickness is part of the styling, I'm not going to change the style. It's like when people say "I don't like her puty/big lips" who cares it's part of the styling.I know the lines aren't perfect but I'll try and do better next time, I always try and top myself.

I said she out of habbit, have three sisters.

Heh, as far as I know Adarias is a boy :P

And it's not an issue that he has, he actually gave you a really good suggestion.  Don't think of it as a demand to edit this exact piece - but take his advice and play around with your lines.  Yes you made the choice to make the line thick, but I'm sure once you experiment and vary the line thickness around the curves and make some lines taper it'll really help the cartoony style that's common in your pieces.  Right now - being all even - it looks sort of generic and plain, but making them more fluid and smooth would punch it up a notch, I'm sure.

Just because you finished this piece, doesn't mean you can't take some good advice for the future.

I understand where some of the people are coming from but this isn't a WIP.

Also, what shes saying is beyond the point, I mean at least they are pretty good/clean.

I don't understand why she has an issue.

No one is out to 'get you' Georgie, you just have to understand that this community is built upon helping each other.  That's actually quite hard to find and if anything you should be thankful.  There's not much one can say in response to a piece, that's not cc, so I'm not even sure what you're expecting.

I make this comment knowing that again you'll take it to heart and stone me or something, but don't you think that a group of people saying the same thing to you every single time you post if sort of a hint that maybe you're looking at things wrong..?    You can't say that you put an art piece in a public gallery for personal enjoyment.  I think someone said this earlier - this website is designed around feedback.  So far no one has been outwardly negative toward you, and yet you keep responding as if people are throwing personal attacks from every side.  No one ever said you were a poor artist.

I would try to further explain my point about line art, but you might just misunderstand completely feel harrassed  again

I'm sure thats what you would say if someone was doing the same in your gallery, infact everytime you post anything a group of people doing so?

Woah, let's all take a step back here. GeorgiePie is just sharing work and Adarias is just putting in two cents (take it or leave it).  Let's all collect ourselves and move on.

I didn't put it up for scrutiny, I put it up for my own enjoyment, and whoever else might like it, however unreal it seems that I get comments about positive things, rather then more then half being nagative. I made this on the computer, your not making sense. Wasting both of our time esp mine. The pixel thickness is there because I made it that way, because I WANTED to. Don't make anymore comments on this subject, I will report harrassment.

By the way, line thickness was made using a BIGGER brush, which doesn't make it anything else, it still is 100% pixel art.

No, i believe you did it based on your own work.  there's no need to be defensive, especially when such accusations regarding originality have not been made.

no, the only thing I think is that your line weights and curves are rather mechanical in both senses:
A - they appear stiff and overgeneralized
B - they appear to have been done using a computer process rather than square-by-square

I'm willing to believe that you made every pixel decision here if you claim to have, despite the appearance, but if you did, I would say that it is of utmost importance to your work that you pursue more fluid treatments of line and pixel.

This is a public gallery.  When you put something up for scrutiny, expect scrutiny.

GeorgiePie (Level 1 Rookie) @ 12/9/2007 11:15

I believe I put it there as well.

This is my gallery, it is 100% pixel art, I read and there isn't a rule about using one color.

user
GeorgiePie (Level 1 Rookie) @ 12/9/2007 11:14
Thanks, your very kind! Sometime I'll finish the colored version =D

user
GeorgiePie (Level 1 Rookie) @ 12/9/2007 11:13

Are you trying to say I traced this from someone elses work?

This makes me really upset. This is 100% by me, would you like to see the sketch?

How about the WIP?

Your very rude.

user
GeorgiePie (Level 1 Rookie) @ 12/9/2007 11:08

Well, I've seen b&w works, just one less color here.

Can't wait to see your version!

I agree with Hatch.  This belongs in the Lines Den.

Skaka (Level 1 Rookie) @ 12/6/2007 10:56
Solid lineart :) Would be awesome if you were to color it thoug '

user
Adarias (Level 11 Bonsai) @ 12/6/2007 05:02
while i might consider some linearts to be pixelwork, there's no evidence of that here.  many awkwardly pixelled lines and very good curves suggest to me that this was a vector trace imported and saved in 2 colors.  at the very least, some sort of curve function was employed.

user
Hatch (Level 3 Hatchikyu) @ 12/5/2007 18:51
There's no question this is very nice, but does line art belong in the gallery? Doesn't seem like I've ever seen it before.

Anyhoo, I've been coloring this on and off for the past few days. :D
