heh, well a good way to justify that is just to think that everything they DIDN'T mention must be good :p

It's not that I don't take crits well, I do believe me, look at any of my topics in the WIP section. It's about disrespecting my wishes when I stricly say "Please no crits" because I'm done and people do anyway, esp when they say all of what they don't like/what looks bad and not say one positive thing.

Georgie, here's my advice as far as the future goes. The community currently functions the way it does, people comment on people's gallery pieces, most people don't even go to the forums that are members here. From my own personal experience ( I've grown a lot in the last 6 years ) , read your crits, comment positively or not at all. Theres no need to tell people not to comment on your works, isn't it great they're actually looking at your work?

Learn to do art to do it, it's not about what people think, it's about your creation. Stand behind it with full confidence always, and you won't find the need to reject peoples comments.

BTW: Thanks for removing that blur drop-shadow, it was actually taking away from your piece and looks a lot cleaner now :)

I understand, don't realy feel like fixing it at the moment though, thanks for the help.

 

This had been in the WIP section for a long time. This is my gallery and I can take or leave any crits/suggestions I want but when I ask for people not to and they disrespect me I find it very rude and wasteful.

And if you only want positive feedback, why not just pay a friend five bucks to pat you on the back all day?
Rejecting constructive criticism is really no way to improve as an artist.

I remember this from the forum... although still unsure about the fin on her head I think you pulled this off alright.

If you don't want feedback on the piece, then why post it on a site designed for feedback?

yeah I am one, please remove the drop shadow in the preview, allowing NPA sets an unfair standard for the rest of PJ.

No problem Georgie. One thing though about the crits, the best you could do is ignore them if you're not looking for crits. Otherwise you're gonna flood your own comment box with arguments  ( I know I've been there so many times).

Very nice georgePie! Even if you had asked for crits, I would not have them.

The problem is that it is a truecolour PNG with alpha transparency. It should be a paletted PNG with key transparency.

dogmeat: change your browser and tada - the blue background will disappear. IE 6 can't read transparent .png's correctly and adds a blue background

Anyway, nice work. I really like this one. Wonderful shading and design :)

Finally! This looks awesome =D Gonna post the alien girl soon (I'ma check if you did right after.

Her mouth looks like a blow up doll, which makes me like this even more.

Yeah she's a mermaid.  She looks similar to an orca whale.  Very whalish.  The main colors here are black and white. This is made of pixels.

There are a few stray pixels outside the outline on the bottom of the upper fluke.
The shadow of the head fin makes it look more like a horn and somewhat lopsided.

Please remove the NPA elements from the preview icon.

Also I think it may look better without the blue bg.

Um, yeah, shes like a mermaid it's suppose to be aquatic.
