I doubt transparency would be allowed for a lil dude, one of the few cases in which transparency is discouraged.
Personally, given the current acceptance rate of lil dude submissions, I'd just try some other things.

I am new at pixel art stuff  but I think I am getting better.

jpeg artifacts, make sure to save in correct file type.
Also, the challenge of this project is to use the given palette.
But even if the correct palette were used, we still accept very few lil dudes these days.
