Welcome! Not bad for a first. 
Really like the creature. But this piece seems like some dithering and anti-aliasing would look really nice. Also, the orange is way too bright when compared with the blue. It looks as if the blue is in a very dark room, while the orange is outside. Personally, I would make the blue lighter. I would also give more light on the head.
I understand that this is your first, so you may not want to fix it up, but I think that it has potential. Be sure to check out the tutorials section of PJ.
