This is something I drew up really quick for my little sister in MSPaint who has an obsession with canines. Definitely need to work on animal anatomy, because I really skipped over all detail on his paws & legs, as you can tell.

No prob. You really gotta start out smaller, but as you get better, and learn how to add more detail, you can start getting bigger and bigger.

Yeah, the problem with much of my stuff is it's drawn too big with too little pixel detail so it just looks flat.

Work smaller. I wouldn't really consider this pixel art. It's just lines and fills.
