I love this, it's really beautiful. And to me, the dither in the back gives a feeling of a mystical air, as if something special is happening, and by the looks of it, that seems to be the case ;)
iSTVAN: the dithering on the face has been brought up before (although not in the comments here), and I agree that it makes a coarser texture than I would have liked. The problem was... I didn't know how to do it otherwise I did make some adjustments to minimize the amount of dithering and make it smoother, but I've still got a lot to learn...
I don't know if it's already been said, but I think everything is lovely except the dithering on the face. I think it ruins the smooth faced feel. I try to only use dithering on coarse textures.
All nicely executed. Only thing that disturbes me a bit is tube, that leads to the head. It looks a bit strange, yet i simply do not know if it should be a tube at all. Still a great picture.
Really nice work as usual Mash. I almost missed the butterfly as I was so focused on the characters face. Just putting in my two cents here - but I'm wondering if the butterfly could of worked being a totally different colour like a bright yellow or blue as I think that would work very well with the contrasts of browns that you have implemented.
I do wish that this was a gift for me! Metaru!!!! You lucky, lucky man!!
First off I just wanna say... great pixel-art! but the preview pic i liked better than your big piece. mayb because of the eyes... *gets shot by jal* but thats your style so i shouldnt complain... oh merry christmas :D
ikke: I agree about the dither... it was my first time trying to do it over large areas, so it's something I need to practice. Hopefully I will improve in the future!
