that's cause they didn't wan't to make it as easy as it is in mario world, (though the cape is cool.) and it's a pretty cool suit, .... no matter how kiddy it looks....... and the racoon suit also had a timer.
As someone who has Mario Galaxy I must say that the bee suit is kinda disappointing, I mean come on 5 seconds of flying?! What kind of bee is that?! Raccoon and Superman (cape) Mario had infinite flying!
