Color sense, style, technique and subject matter are all equal in importance when imitaing other's work. All these are components of one's style and very much matter.
If 'your' way is what's important then create something completely original and you.

Well, i did it in my own way. Sorry if i annoy people like this. But i thought, you should choose your own colours. I am imitating his style, not his colour choices.
