Weeell :) This took me recent days and nights to animate my gfx for an upcoming "eat to live" game project. Just decided to see the result before programmer breath some life into my sprites.

WARNING! No special programme was used to animate this. Every sprite was carefully moved to it's calculated position by means of Photoshop and Image Ready.

The whole 64 frames animation consists of:

1. 64 frames - slow fishes moving right.
2. 64 frames - slow fishes moving left.
3. 32 frames - medium speed fishes moving right.
4. 32 frames - medium speed fishes moving left.
5. 16 frames - fast small fish moving right.
6. 16 frames - fast small fish moving left.
7. 64 frames - seahorse.
8. 42 frames - Fish eat fish :) Can you see this happens?
9. 4 frames - highlights on a bottom.
10. some frames - bubbles.

What for? I dunno... Just to see if I can :) Hope you like the result...

UPDATE: I found the way to make a screensaver out of it. It could be downloaded from here.

This is a great peace. Love the light reflection on the bottom. Amazing...

Actually animating this by hand seems crazy to me, maybe because I also code well.
* Some of the larger fish could really do with an alternate frame.
It would help them not to look so jerky even if they continued to move at a constant rate.
* The sand doesn't really look sandy to me.. from what i recall, a washed out 70% yellow, 30% blue color is common for sand viewed through water
* I like everything on the seabed that isn't the sand. And I like the colors, too.

AMAZING. The idea of jalonso is awesome, if you can do this,  you really should. If it was bigger, i would use it for my screensaver for sure. Much more prettier than others non-pixel art i see in web.

i think the grasses should sway in the water a little bit

Now that is awsome.

beautiful although the last and first scene appear to "jump" a bit

Unanimated fishes? This could be done. Just give me you mail. It could be rather interesting.

BruceJuice (Level 3 Hatchet Man) at 7/5/2005 8:51:58 PM
I know i could make it into a screen saver. I'd just need the fish and bg's seperated and inlarged.

DarkAuron (Level 2 Quiet One) at 7/4/2005 10:16:15 PM
Theres just so much going on! WOW.

This is amazing, I really like the reflection stuff on the rocks

ctrl-alt-delete (Level 3 Corporate Drone) at 5/4/2005 4:44:33 PM
I love how the rocks on the bottom fade into the distance.  The colors and illumination are gorgeous.  It looks just like a real current is reflecting on the ocean floor.

sedgemonkey (Level 10 Master Sniper) at 5/2/2005 12:30:43 AM
I think there's an app that can make animated GIFs into screensavers... I certainly wouldn't mind if it was blown up.

pixelblink (Level 8 Marshal) at 5/1/2005 11:42:56 PM
sweet. would make a nice screensaver too if it was larger

sedgemonkey (Level 10 Master Sniper) at 5/1/2005 6:17:20 PM

Love all the little touches all over the place on this.  The bright colors, bubbles and highlights on the bottom are all super cool.
