Well it would have been too dull, I wanted to give it more atmosphere... but the trees and sky are horrible.

When does the comp. end anyway?

It was suppose to be a sky... although as I said, I ran out of time  (I started the competition late) so... the background suffered a bit, although I feel that columbus turned out okay.

I might fix this picture later, although I highly doubt I will win, so I won't bother fixing it up at the moment.

This has an oil painting feel to it.

I like the Columbus, he's got nice clothes and hair and his posture is quite right. And I like his left hand, nicely done! But I don't like the trees, their shape is too simple, although they are nicely shaded. And the blue background; is it water or sky? I can't tell... Finally, the whole scene looks a bit empty.. I would focus more on the character and cut out the other stuff of the picture.. sorry, hope it will help at least :-)
