Personally, when I zoom this once, I can see even the darkest colors.
I always try to keep contrast and brightness so that I can see subtle color differences and yet avoid eye strain:
1. Pump the CON to max, keep BRI in the middles, untill you can see everything. Use pics with subtle shades in darkest and brightest parts for reference. On some monitors too much CON can give 'overglow', thus reducing clarity.
2. Reduce CON gradually, and increase BRI, trying to keep the clarity while reducing the 'glow'
3. The goal is to bring it as much as possible to printed-on-glossy-paper-look without looking too washed out.
This is for TFT monitors of course. Everybody should have a TFT.

I think it's incredibly hard to see. But the style and design is great.

its more like you have to higligth the image. or else, its just a black rectangle :P   

The design is hot.  But you need to complement it with your color choices! 

I have to agree with everyone else. It's too dark, but what I can see is beautiful. Just a little brighter and it'll be good.

you sure your monitor is calibrated properly?? I have an LCD, and I had to zoom in like 6x to see that it isnt jsut all black :D

Too dark, I don't get clear picture what´is there. I liek the texture I can see :D

It is way to dark, but once you make the rest of your screen black in paint, it looks quite good... Nice shapes, but brighten it up...

I like the way that the edge of the tree is all twisted and so... cool.

This is dark and it has edges i like it.
