Manny is a dead soul who, like any other soul, wants to get to the land of eternal rest. But, due to his not so perfect life, he has to work off some time before he can leave. He works in the Department of Death, as a reaper who tries to find travel packages for people new to the land of the dead.
Manuel "Manny" Calavera, Grim Fandango's main anti-heroe.

I might as well re-clarify my previous comment here as well. The outline you have around your sprite is indeed a little bit thicker than normal, but only as an illusion. Even though the overlapping pixels make it look slightly thicker, it still has a thickness of only one pixel. If you want it to be a thick outline, I'd reccomend making it even thicker, which would also look cleaner. After a quick search I found a couple good examples of thicker outlines: http://pixeljoint.com/pixelart/19806.htm and (a better example) --> http://pixeljoint.com/pixelart/20788.htm Both have thick outlines, but the lines are much cleaner, as the lines have consistent thickness throughout the piece. Here, however, The lines just look jagged. It really does look more like a regular one-pixel line that has yet to be cleaned up. I am especially looking at the right bottom corner of the head, which ends at a perfect right angle. This, in my opinion, would just look so much better as a piece and as a sprite if you just went with a clean, one-pixel outline. If you do decide to do a 2d point-and-click style mockup of Grim Fandango (which I hope you do), a normal outline would also look best as that's just the standard for sprites in games. Everything within the outline, however, is great.
