Is this a pixel art ??? Looks too smooth to be pixel art...
This piece runs 256 colors, primarily 64 of them registering as black(#000000).
One of the colors in the 256 is set as #000008 which is so low in the field of blue it doesn't hold any purpose in this piece other than appearing to be black. There is another one also set to #080000 which are some pixels randomly placed next to the fire. There's no purpose for pixels being that low in color unless your piece runs a wide range of one main color. Specifically including a dark hue.
Any regular pixel artist would have just ran the negative space with one solid color.
Instead there's a composite of 32 really dark colors scattered around.
I find it hard to believe that someone would hand select 32 really dark colors and specifically color in the background with them like how it's done here.
I'm not sure if this is pixel art or not, because it is possible to make it, but it's way to many colours, as mentioned by Blick.
This pixel is like ilkke x 10 in size and details.
Anyways, 6/6 and fav'd. :P
By the way, if you have a WIP, I'd be pleased to see it.
man i wish i could pixel as good as this
all obey slay
it really doesn't look like it was pixeled :/
but still looks great
The link is suspicious, but that's not enough proof to say he didn't do it by hand, the left eye (or the top left of the skull) is a bit off on this one, and not on the digital art one. There, now you don't have enough proof on either side so drop it.
to dr.feng: are you blind, he carefuly placed them to make it look realistic instead of flat, like pixelart realy is.
Well, I registred just to comment on this one. And the comment is, HOLY CRAP! Shows the Amiga-era had the best gfx artists as well as the best apps to do them in.
I must say I'm a bit suspicious. I found this same composition drawn as digital art on his webpage: http://www.tomaszpacyna.net/php/show.php?id=8
Even if he did place every pixel by hand, I think the point of pixel art is not to replicate a digital art style. Not only can one come up with the same style as your "pixel art" using filters, but they save a lot of time. I think true pixel art has an effect that cannot be replicated by filters or fancy tools.
if this is real pixel art (and I think so) you are really an Artist (with the capital A)
You have no idea how astounding this is. This is pixel art at a godly level. I want to die because I've seen the best that art has to offer and I can see no more. This is just incredible. Damn all the people that don't believe you!!! Damn them for having no faith in the skills of an amazing artist!! Please, next graphic you do, have a process or tutorial so that I can pretend that I have a chance of even imitating the kind of stuff that you have put up here!! Dear God, you are good!
P.S. I guess I'll add it to my favorites.
