i can only say thnx 4 the crits, i see i can learn a lot here on PJ.... mos def my next work wont be no line art.... besides that i was just tryin to get the coolest/most realistic optic within the shortest time.... i know this doesnt make a pixel artist in its purest form...... just playing with the different techniques....
this is my 4th piece pixel style i have ever done... though i dont have that exellent illustration skills like some of you do here on PJ, i really wanna get into it..... also isometric pixel works and sprite arts.... u see i will need a lot more time.... wich is hard to find at the moment.... but i will....
lines is one thing. True, then that is like lineart. But tracing the shades, lighting, colours, textures?? that is a near direct copy. how is a full copy acceptable? True it is not fully identical. But flip between the images, and you can see the blocks of colours, and shades are traced. This would then be closer to a hand done photo-reduction. Unless im interpreting this wrong...
Equilibrix is correct. It's allowed", especially when admitted with a reference link. It's just not as respected/cool as an all original pixel.
*The reason tracing in Pixeljoint is allowed is because Pixeljoint allows pixelart where the lineart is made by one artist and colored by another. We even have a lines den in the forum for this. Tracing the outlines amounts to the same thing as borrowing the lineart. Seems only fair.
Well, this is called a "trace". If you copy the lines of the original image, even if pixel by pixel, it's not as appreciated as if you do it from scratch with just looking at the reference pic. I can't say if it's not allowed, I guess it is.. let the mods decide! Anyway it's always good to inform us what technique you used to avoid speculations. Especially when tracing..
pixel by pixel.... ref img as bg layer... is that not allowed? in that case, sorry i didnt know... plese let me know so i wont do it again.... im a rookie to the pixel art....
Yeah, seems very close to the original.. any explanation on that? How did you achieve that? But apart from the suspicious lineart you did a very good job on the dithering!
seems very close to the original. I personally am seeing this as traced very very closely. Was flipping between yours and the original, and every line and shadow are exactly identical.
