For the weekly challenge "WIP Stages".

When I first knew we could spin the template, well, I did spin it several times, until the main reference I used for the concept, The Dragon God from Chrono Cross, came to my mind. It's not exactly it, as I said, the reference glimpsed.

As I knew we could also add a background, by the pose of this flying creature, I imagined it diving for an underwater hunt, much more interesting than a clear sky or an usual stormy one.

I gotta develop the creature's concept more, like its size (I imagine it with a short whale size), its habitat, and so on (:

The final version has 25 colors, but the entire animation over 60.

Me too. After making the underwater background and effects along, I noticed the second light source (the blue one) was gone =/
But I thought the underwater scenery was so interesting and worthy, a reason for the creature's pose... That I left it as it was.

And uh, I didn't get the your first sentence o_o

I like very much the water surrounding him. But i think that the eye in the final frame looks a little strange, i liked it more in previous frames! However, it's only a detail!
