Here is an overview of what I have done: - I added shading based off of the shape: this means that I shaded it like a circle and not just three lines. - I added AA: I added dot's of colours in between the shades to give the illusion of smoothness - I cleaned the lines up: I made the line art more even so it doesn't look jagged - I added hue shifting: this means I have changed the colour slightly between the shades to give it a mor interesting feel
The shading on a ball should follow the curves , what you did is just a gradient of 3 colors . You may also try dithering a little between them , take a look at others works it may help .
Its not that bad, but there it could be improved. The shading you used makes it look flat. Dont use shading to show where the light source is coming from, but rather to show definition. Try looking at some spheres, and notice how they are shaded.
