More freelance work for xxist century digital boy software
Hospital-themed backgrounds.

It was the first time I did anything of that genre. I like the results.

15 colors for the whole set. I could probably reduce it some more though?

kotchomet (Level 1 Private) @ 6/4/2009 07:14

it kind of reminds me of pheonix wright in a way.

Rooster (Level 5 Captain) @ 9/26/2008 10:28
good thing to make adventure game. Very Good Job :D

RoboBOT (Level 7 Captain) @ 6/15/2008 19:42
The microscopes and test tubes in the room adjacent to the CT scan machine are a bit random, but whatever These look really great, well done.

Hapiel (Level 11 Admiral) @ 6/8/2008 06:48
Nice backgrounds!
I guess its the style, but these things remind me of Beneath a Steel Sky

new-age-reject (Level 1 Depressed) @ 4/11/2008 13:27
This really is some great work!

Thulium (Level 1 Depressed) @ 3/28/2008 06:19
About the oxygen tanks in the second picture, the two should be att the bottom, not the top, furthermore I don't think it's used in operation (I could be wrong but it seems unlikely). Maybe it's Nitrous Oxide you think of? Even if oxygen were to be used wouldn't it be more practical with a oxygen concentrator?
The fifth picture, is that supposed to be the 7½ floor? Otherwise maybe you should fine tune the sizes a bit.
Finally, on the sixth picture the lighting looks like it has some kind of glare above the lamp, but under the lamp it looks like light hitting the wall. Unless you want it to look like glare I suggest that you "flatten" the light hitting the ceiling.
...And yes, I created this account just to write this.. I drink too much coffee..

AndyOaks (Level 1 Rookie) @ 3/27/2008 01:42
You're lighting is excellent. Some of those look like renders. Good job.

Skull (Level 11 CEO) @ 3/23/2008 15:19
My word, they are some very impressive pieces.

jalonso (Level 11 Godfather) @ 3/22/2008 20:37
Oh man in this sea of knights I missed this very unique looking set of BGs.

Skull Master (Level 1 Rookie) @ 3/22/2008 20:10
now you're thinking with portals... or... at least hospitals, lol ;p

varry good, well done!

skeddles (Level 11 Psychopath) @ 3/22/2008 11:58
These are just amazing. Perfection, moremoremore.

PS: FSS, finish your website

DeProgrammer (Level 7 Underboss) @ 3/22/2008 08:00
I'd like to say these are amazing and nothing is literally wrong with them. :)

inkspot (Level 4 Button Man) @ 3/22/2008 07:11
Gah, the server can't handle this pic in separate viewer.... it says out of memory....  I like your style of dithering.

FrankieSmileShow (Level 6 Manager) @ 3/22/2008 06:40
actually I did place a shadow cast by the bookshelf, but I realize now that its barely noticable.

The perspectives should make sense, I build them by wireframing the objects with the line tool, using vanishing points. Only the second image didn't use any (the operating room), I just went with my nose for it (I think it shows, sadly)

iLKke (Level 9 Nidan) @ 3/22/2008 06:37
@shmupstick: There obviously IS some room between them. The lack of shadow does make it tricky to grasp, tho.

I must say I think that this was a very hard thing to pull off and all the little perspective issues are trivial compared to the overall success of all the pieces. Only bit I find really out of place is the magnetic resonance thingie, which is, I believe, supposed to be visible through a glass. It's positioning is not compatible with the room we are viewing it from. It could be arbitrarily rotated like that, but it doesn't really fit intuitively.

I like it how you managed to subdue your messy style for commercial artwork, and in this respect the top one is the weakest.

Darth Mandarb (Level 10 Operative) @ 3/22/2008 05:24
I really like these!  I have a few issues with some shading (particularly the book-shelf one ... the bookshelf itself doesn't fit in quite right)  But the style is really good!  You should be making Adventure Games over at AGS :)

Ricki (Level 1 Seaman) @ 3/22/2008 05:12
Great work..and 15 colors. I can say only WOW .....

Adam (Level 9 Major General) @ 3/22/2008 04:22
Looking really great, though the perspectives seem to be off here and there. The only striking issue is that the bookshelf on the second last one doesn't cast shadows.

shmupstick (Level 7 Sheriff) @ 3/22/2008 04:02
These are really wonderful.
I do have a problem reading the second last one. Is the book shelf blocking the cupboards behind it?
There's no room in between, is it?

Slemsvamp (Level 6 Serial Killer) @ 3/22/2008 03:45
Agree with greenraven

greenraven (Level 2 Hired Gun) @ 3/21/2008 22:27
Finally done with these I see.

Marvelous, splendid, stupendous, wonderful, amazing work.

Majestic Fox (Level 3 Corporate Drone) @ 3/21/2008 21:48
15 colors, wow lol

I Am Uh (Level 4 Button Man) @ 3/21/2008 21:42
I love how you managed to pull of a Miraculous 3D look with such few colors.

skamocore (Level 11 CEO) @ 3/21/2008 21:12 it :D...these could be really awesome backgrounds for an adventure game!

My only prob is that the second last one's walls don't seem properly first glance it looks like everything is floating on a flat bg
