I think it's a pick, not at axe but I agree on the sharpness issue.
Other than that I think this piece has lots of potential (the character is quite cute).

Beefies, repeat after me: "I think I can I think I can I think I can I think I can". Show a little more confidence in your work.

The only thing I see here, is the contrast. Plus the axe seems a bit less that sharp.
