I like shadows, the sprite style and off course, that japanese cute mouth.

np.  I suppose I just didn't understand the varying curves and how that reflected the shapes of the surfaces the light hit.

EDIT
It looks a little sketchy and rough at the moment, and the right side of the face (our left) should be a little lower.
