Another coop.
This one took a while to make, cause we got stuck at one point and only months later found the motivation to finish it.
We know it lacks depth, but what the hell. You just gotta move on...

WIP coming soon. You could pretty much learn how NOT to do things from it :D

user
Majoris (Level 1 Jukyu) @ 5/20/2008 16:02
Grats on #1 pixel in april, totally deserves it. I like everything about this piece, even the cartoony type horse thing, the style of which I usually don't like, but you guys pulled it off [for me].

brunocompuit (Level 1 Jukyu) @ 5/12/2008 06:40

This looks really great.

user

Hell with depth, who cares.=) Colors superb, the only thing (probably thats me=)  cliff rocks and a rope bridge draws all attention.

user
blueleds (Level 1 Rookie) @ 4/8/2008 15:16

This is great.  Love that mischevous bird.

Only problem really is the foreground elements don't stand out enough.

Also, it's hard to tell what the knight looks like.  It seems he kinda pale, has a relly long schnozz, a mustache, and a pot belly, but I'm not sure.

user
Dirteater (Level 1 Private) @ 4/8/2008 14:59
oooo Purty, I can't wait to see the WIP :D

It's nice to see peice online... thank you MOD's for understanding pixel art and posibility to show this piece.
We know for some promblems with depth on this one - but next time we will sharp our eyes.

tnx for comments - critics ;)

user
Mykola (Level 3 Corporate Drone) @ 4/8/2008 01:43
you motherf_ckers... best pixelart duo in the world.

user
iLKke (Level 9 Nidan) @ 4/8/2008 01:22
@B.O.B: We basically swap the file back and forth all the time. This one started with my outline. Then Jamon changed the canvas size and added new parts to it. Then I set some of the basic colors. Then jamon set some etc. Sometimes we just work some on it and pass the file along, and sometimes we talk about how we will do things in advance. In the end, we have both worked on almost every part. I will try to add names to the WIP frames so you can have a sense of how it went along, but you must not take it too seriously cause towards the end it all gets too tangled. :P

The B.O.B. (Level 11 Master Assassin) @ 4/7/2008 18:28
With a little patience, everything will be ok. And yeah, I faved this thing while it was in the dark, so you know my opinion on the matter.
Art wise, I really enjoy this piece. Other than most pieces, the characters in the scene actually have character, and the scene helps it blend very well. Exceptional pixel skills if you ask me. However, one thing does bother me a bit: The background's light coloration gives it great depth, but what makes it clash, and to me is the central reason to the depth issue, is the contrast of the castle, and how it's a little too detailed to be considered to be on the same plane of depth as the rest of it's surroundings in the background. Might be some of the lighter highlights on the bricks, and roof that make it look as if it's on the same plane as the characters on the foreground. A mere nitpick, if you ask me.
Also, who works on what, when you do these collabs? I'm interested in exactly who handles what portion of the piece during the making. Does one Serb do the line work, and the other a majority detailing? Or does one just start doodling, get bored, and pass it along to the other serb, who carries on with the doodling till a finished piece is created? I'm very curious and enthralled in the process, as it looks like fun.

PixelSpy (Level 5 Captain) @ 4/7/2008 17:39
Pixel drama aside... I gotta say this is a very nice piece and some great art.  I find it very inspiring and a good example of what can be acheived through pixel art . It ranks up there with some of the best on this site.  So good work guys and I would love to see the WIP so that I can learn.

user
ptoing (Level 7 Cuttlefish) @ 4/7/2008 17:39
Glad to see this up. Cheers Ilija :) iSTVAN: I overreacted a bit, and I already had some PMing with pixelblink about this and all is fine. Also hereby I wanna appologise to everyone who felt attacked.

user
iLKke (Level 9 Nidan) @ 4/7/2008 17:22
@iSTVAN: I must stand to defend ptoing. The whole rejection thingie was a needless affair that 'of course got' a bit overly dramatic. Feelings get hurt, people start breathing fire. Simple as that. His words weren't directed at the community, rather at one of the mods who was supposed to be representing that community, but seemed to be doing a rather poor job. Ptoing wasn't attacking us, he was in fact  defending us.
Since most conflicts are steaming piles of shit, it's hard to take part and come clean afterwards. If we were better men, we would prolly all just apologize to each other or something. I think there is no point in letting this drag on.

user
iSTVAN (Level 8 Cannibal) @ 4/7/2008 16:57
Absolutely lovely work. The caricature of the donkey was so original and humorous that I just had to laugh.

On a side, Ptoing, WTF? Talk about getting your knickers in a knot. There are much better ways to influence the running of PJ than to swear off the wall and make passive aggressive attacks at the community.

//The above comments regarding Ptoing are now redundant.

user
tomic (Level 11 Admiral) @ 4/7/2008 16:11

haha, back in the race

rocks, a castle and a donkey (don't tell me, it's a horse. don't!), pretty much the triumvirate of my pixel adoration, awesome. and 'lacks of depth' my arse!
