wow, when the page was loading I saw a still picture, and I was like ... huh? ... then when it started moving, I was like HOLY CRAP THIS IS AWESOME!!! ... seriously, if I hadn't known it was a sprite, I might have almost though it to be 3d ... excelent work.

probably a 3d render then pixeled on it, but anyway I am loving it!

I agree with vedsten about the shading/coloring not being great at all and yeah the animation itself is beautifully done.  If this is from a game then it's one that really wouldn't be done justice in static screenshots.

I wouldn't recommend mixing framerates in the middle of the animation, either. I would use that if I wanted to hold a frame, so it would all be multiples of a base framerate.

for the animation i used a basic process. very important to construct and to have a 3d vision of the charactere
first i squetch all the key frames with no cape and no details .
for the animation of the cape  i made all the frames with one color until i have a nice movement "thinking with physics and weight" .
then i made the details .

The movement of the cape and the attacking animation are absolutely beautiful.  Something bothers me about the lower legs during the 'resting' animation.  They seem a little... smooshy? I love the little step backwards of the forward leg at the end of the cycle.  Nice touch.  Overall I love it.
