@ l3mon5&PixelSpy: Since there are only 8 colors, I remember exactly how I went about picking them. I still don't know why it turned out to work so well, but here's the process, for what it's worth:

I started by setting the pink as temporary background, and drew the heads with black, white, and three browns in between. At one point I put a purple smudge to ptoing's face(it is still on his nose) and thought it looked nice as a secondary light of sorts(it was lighter than now). Next I outlined the bodies and noticed that the lightest brown (it's a dirty yellow-ish in fact) seemed good as a neutral base color for suits. I added the gray to shade the bodies with, so they'd appear a different colour from the faces. Notice how I barely managed to keep the gray out of the faces, cause it'd ruin everything. There was a big gap between black and dark brown and I didn't to lighten the black so I included the purple that I kept waiting on ptoing's nose, after darkening it a bit. This all looked nice on pink bg so i decided to keep that color also, even though i knew i'd draw some bg later, so I adjusted the pink lightness to fall between grey and yellow so I could AA or smooth bits with it. The original pink bg is now only kept within the helmets. In the end i added the background making sure i made it very simple so that I don't have to use all the colors everywhere and break the illusion that there were more than 8 colors. I made a think black edge to the picture cause it amplified the subtle and muted hues that I used. Phew.

At first glance I thought it was Abraham Lincoln and Ptoing in space.

I could've done this in 4 colors, but this is ok I guess.

   ILKke, you have a striking resemblance to Abraham Lincoln. Also, I love the almost 70's Charlie's Angels poses, you have going on. It would have been uncanny, if there was a third party. Maybe Jamon, or Helm? : )
   Your pose seems more retracted, while Ptoing's is more  " * thrust, thrust* Ugh, super 'crotch in your face', pose!" Heh. Looks great, though. I like the shine off the glass helmets, and the simple fact that you remembered to place a shadow underneath the characters.
