I've been having this nightmare latelly... there's this phone monster... and I wake up when he starts ringing. maybe it's my conscience trying to make me remember some phonecall I should have made and I forgot.

maybe the phone was ringing for a moment while you were sleeping, and that's why? time is abstracted in sleep, your whole nightmare might take place in the first ring or two.
banding hurts this piece in a few places (mostly top and bottom) but on the whole it's nice. Also, wouldn't have minded a quiver anim on the rest of the monster so that it wouldn't seem so static.
Haha! At least you made the most of it. The pic is great, as is often the case when tapping one's unconscious. Technically, the handset is off-center, but as a whole it rocks.
