You mean her left (our right) foot? That's not AA. There's actually some metal protruding from that side of the boot.

you should notice that in any part of that tutorial is mentioned that you should use dithering to shade such small sprites. also, it talks about using a good contrast in the skin tones to give it a proper volume.
