I did this for a Christmas contest last year. (This is where the my previously uploaded Guitar came from.) There wasn't a limit on colors, but it was encouraged. I think I ended up only using only 16.
If you dislike the dithering, please don't comment. This was done forever ago, and I'm not going back to change anything on it.
