So I went into the Sprite Competition archive on MFGG, and I found the Commodore 64 competition that I entered a long time ago. I saw my old entry (http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/778/spritecomp122mockupbw5.png), and decided to have another go at it. I worked for 2-3 hours trying to get it right, and then piecing it together. I am pleased with the results.

Too many colors for a C64 piece, and the graphics look stretched to get the wide pixel look which isn't really how games were done. Try making the sprites and tiles fit half the width they are currently at. It means a loss of detail but that's just how it is on this old resolution.

Kewl. The pipe on the left there looks a little thinner than the standard mario pipe though.
