I really like this. You could get the apple to pop out more if you changed the colors a bit, though. I think it'll help if you make the background darker and make the purple more blue and less saturated. Blue would look more natural and more different from the red in the apple. I also think that if you make the bruises smaller, but darker, you can clean up the shading on the apple a bit. I'd also try to remove the horizontal lines on the tree and maybe add some more randomness to the background to hide the pattern.
