Nicely Done, I love that you have included all the doctors.
I wish this was a game i could play. it's incredible how much some of these resemble the characters and actors.
Centurion Rory is one of the many, many WIP ones I have to get around finishing someday. I'm annoyed at myself that I still haven't finished the Brigadier I started a year ago, even when he died a couple months ago.
I think Van Gogh looks a little too calm. Could stand to look a bit more deranged.
And you should totally do centurion Rory to go along with police Amy. XD
This is really, really good, all miniaturizations are very recognizable.
John Pertwee and David Tennant in particular have that immediate "hey i know who this is" effect.
Yeah some of them have been real difficult to get a good likeness of and I have some unfinished ones I set aside for a while such as the sixth doctor (though Schu has one on our joint Doctor Who gallery), leela, sarah jane and the brigadier.
The Tardis, Matt Smith's, Tennant, Van Gogh, heck all of them are more than recognisable, love how much detail you've got in here. Spriting known figures is risky, looking worse than it should if you can't pull it off often, not a problem for you guys though, - well impressed.
oh shit, i gotta say the new tenth doctor is awesome
yeah like i said she's done various characters too that I haven't shown here but are on the main gallery page of these sprites. Every sprite is named under it with Schu or my name depending on who did it.
Yep, C. is Schu. Evrything is alright and the sun is shining.
The smirk wasn't meant to be in there. It was a joke bit for someone. The Fifth Doctor didn't smile much but then given the high death toll in some of his stories he didn't have much to smile about.
gotta ask her, it's been a while since she was sending me the link on im...
and don't be so serious - i was never saying that you ripped anything.
its probably just me, and anyhow i only just noticed that you got rid of the smirk, which helps a lot. i tend to work better under limitations which leaves me a bit partial to them, but overall the quality of the revamps is better.
Actually the old head looked hardly anything like him. It wasn't even his head originally, just a random doodle of a blond guy which I then quickly turned into a fifth doc sprite going by memory of what he looked like (hadn't seen a pic of him in years so I got some of it wrong) to make a quick pixel present for a friend as she's a big fan of his. She actually agrees the new sprite is far more accurate and seemed to make her happy.
I don't think I can do actual NES graphics these days. Both these (using NES palette) and my main game project (using a modified NES palette) both started off much stricter with NES sprite limitations but I just get bored with how they looked and want more colors in because these aren't actually on the NES. I prefer working with a set palette rather than a few colors per sprite. Perhaps it's cos I learnt to sprite on systems that never had such a stupid color per sprite limit. Even my 1984 Amstrad CPC didn't. I think I like how NES graphic artists (such as those who did Batman and Shatterhand) made great use of the limitations but I don't think I like NES graphics themselves.
'fraid i'm not. it was mostly the head i liked better, it legitimately looked a lot like him and something about the way you did the hair was really stylish looking. eh, maybe its just me. either way, the revamps are coming out really nicely overall, even if they're losing some of their NEStastic charm.
please be joking. The old fifth doctor sprite was an embarrasing piece of crap with poor color usage and slightly out of proportion to everyone else and barely accurate at all. I prefer to regard it as a style prototype. I'd always hated it and finally got around to fixing what I so disliked about it. Thanks for the compliment about the rest though.
i liked the old version of the fifth a lot better but these are still fantastic
not really sure what her online-names are. my bad sorry.
You mean Schu? She has her own sprites which I haven't put here as that's her own but she has them on my Doctor Who gallery.
err - did i see them on charlottes site somehow?
Fourth Doctor Tom Baker, Legendary superdoctor of awesomeness. 'The one which had a scarf,' indeed. :)
It's been over 3 years since I updated this piece. I've done a few more sprites since then such as War Doctor, Clara, 12th Doctor which are on my deviantart. It just got tedious constantly updating the large image. :P
